Welcome to your Chamber Connection Newsletter! This week, we’re celebrating standout community leaders from Good Morning, Branson and sharing key legislative updates on Missouri’s congressional maps and property tax valuations. Plus, get a preview of major upcoming events—including youth sports tournaments in the area and Ignite at Branson Airport.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

Reports indicate there’s a push from the White House to revisit Missouri’s congressional district maps – just five years after the last redistricting. This is typically done every ten years following the census.

The goal is to restructure Missouri’s map to have seven Republican districts and one Democrat. It’s currently six to two. Much of the conversation centers on the state’s northernmost districts to extend the 5th District to garner more Republican votes. Democratic Congressman Emanuel Cleaver currently represents the 5th District, which includes Kansas City, Lee’s Summit and Independence.

Misouri.net reported yesterday that multiple county assessors are resisting state-ordered property valuation increases. Taney County is on the list. See the full story below.
