Legislative Update
Congratulations to State Representative Brian Seitz on his recent appointment to serve on the Missouri Tourism Commission! The Commission’s mission is, “To lead Missouri in becoming one of America’s most memorable tourist destinations." We are happy the Branson/lakes region will be represented on the Commission again.
The Missouri Senate took up HB 567 Wednesday, which led to eight hours of floor debate. This is the bill to make changes to Proposition A related to minimum wage and sick leave mandates approved by voters last year. Unfortunately, they were unable to reach an agreement last night and laid over HB 567 about 1:30am this morning.
There’s only three weeks remaining in session. The budget will likely be a top priority next week as it is to be delivered to Governor Kehoe by May 9. We are hopeful the General Assembly can pass a few more pieces of important legislation before session ends May 16.
Real ID Act
The REAL ID Act requires REAL ID-compliant identification for boarding domestic flights, accessing certain federal facilities and entrance to nuclear power plants. This applies to state identification cards as well as drivers’ licenses. If you do not have a REAL ID yet, you will need to visit your License Bureau or DMV with certain documents. The deadline is May 7th.
