Legislative Update
Senator Brad Hudson’s (R-Cape Fair) SB 160, which would prohibit public institutions of higher learning from discriminating against religious, political, or ideological associations, has been approved by the Senate and second read in the House.
Senator McCreery’s SB 66 (D-St. Louis County) to raise the minimum age to marry to 18 passed the Senate with bipartisan support.
A bill to establish the “Public School Open Enrollment Act” cleared the Missouri House this week. If passed in the Senate, HB 711 sponsored by Representative Pollitt (R- Sedalia) would allow for students to attend a non-resident district that is participating in the program.
The Missouri Senate and House of Representatives begin their spring break upon adjournment today. They return to the Capitol building March 24.
